But here's where it gets interesting: the new dimes will undergo a complete makeover. Say goodbye to President Franklin D. Roosevelt and the iconic symbols on the reverse. Instead, the Mint introduces a captivating depiction of Liberty, with the winds of revolution blowing through her hair, and her liberty cap adorned with stars and stripes. On the reverse, an eagle clutches arrows, symbolizing the colonists' fight for independence, with the powerful message "Liberty Over Tyranny" etched below.
And this is the part most people miss: the quarters are where the real excitement lies! Five unique designs will honor pivotal moments in American history: the Mayflower Compact, the Revolutionary War, the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the Gettysburg Address. Each design tells a story, from the embracing Pilgrims on the Mayflower quarter to the iconic Liberty Bell with its symbolic crack on the Declaration of Independence quarter.
But wait, there's more! In addition to these circulating coins, the U.S. Mint is releasing a collectible semiquincentennial Enduring Liberty half dollar. This coin features the iconic Statue of Liberty passing her torch, a powerful symbol of freedom and democracy.
While pennies might be scarce, the U.S. Mint is offering a special semiquincentennial design for penny enthusiasts to purchase. These pennies mirror the latest designs in your collection but with the dual date, adding a touch of history to your change.
