Get ready to be inspired! The Montclair Police Athletic League (PAL) and Montclair Recreation Basketball are kicking off a brand new season, and it's already packed with excitement. This year, the program is setting the stage for young athletes in grades 5 through 8 to compete in the Garden State Suburban League, and the future looks bright!
The season's launch was nothing short of spectacular, thanks to the support of a hometown hero: Myisha Hines-Allen, a Montclair PAL alum and current WNBA star with the Dallas Wings. She returned to her roots to host her very first Girls Basketball Camp. But here's where it gets really exciting: she brought along WNBA teammates Ariel Atkins, Aziaha James, and Paige Beckers, along with a team of coaches and volunteers. Imagine the thrill of Montclair PAL athletes spending the day training with four current WNBA players! They learned new skills and received some awesome gifts from the players and sponsors.
And that's not all! The Montclair PAL is also celebrating the success of its 7th-grade boys' team, coached by Zo, who achieved a fantastic second-place finish in the Wayne PAL 2025 Turkey Shootout. Talk about a strong start!
Now, as the season gains momentum, Montclair PAL is calling on dedicated volunteers to join their basketball program. Are you passionate about coaching and mentoring young athletes? You can apply online or reach out to Coach Williams at 973-509-4729 or twilliams@montclairpal.org.
But here's a question for you: What do you think about the impact of professional athletes giving back to their communities? Do you agree that this kind of mentorship is crucial for inspiring the next generation? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
