ATG will design the central tube, the backbone of the satellite, using their patented lightweight yet stiff structure. ÉireComposites will then bring this design to life, crafting the carbon fiber components with precision. This process involves intricate manufacturing, including autoclave curing and precision machining, ensuring every detail is perfect.
But why is this mission so important? According to Jacob Pasqualotto of ATG, it's about more than just engineering. It's about Ireland's role in the future of astrophysics. The LISA mission will explore the low-frequency universe, where supermassive black holes lurk, offering insights into the universe's origins. This year, Irish space tech has been on a roll! Celtonn, a Limerick company, is developing semiconductor hardware for future satellite missions, and Dublin's InnaLabs secured its second contract with ESA for the Ramses mission.
