A dire warning has been issued by Gani Adams, the revered Yoruba Generalissimo and Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland. In an exclusive interview with Central TV, monitored by SaharaReporters, Adams revealed a looming crisis in the South-West region of Nigeria. He claims that armed groups, including terrorists, have infiltrated communities across Yorubaland, posing a serious security threat.
Adams' concerns are not to be taken lightly. He asserts that recent incidents nationwide highlight a critical need for urgent action. "Our country is facing a grave security crisis. The situation in most states is alarming," he stated.
According to Adams, highly credible sources have informed him of the extensive infiltration of terrorists in the South-West. He believes that the activities in nearby Kogi and Kwara states are mere tests, preparing the ground for larger, more coordinated attacks. "These buffer zones are being used as launching pads," he explained.
The alleged targets of these attacks include Oyo, Ekiti, Ondo, and Lagos State. When pressed for details, Adams linked these threats to various armed factions operating in northern Nigeria, including Boko Haram, ISIS, and ISWAP. He also claimed that foreign actors are involved in coordinating these activities, adding an international dimension to the crisis.
But here's where it gets controversial... Adams attributes the motivations behind these attacks to a complex mix of political, economic, and ethnic factors. He believes each group has its own unique ideology and objectives.
Furthermore, Adams expressed shock at the recent remarks made by the Benue State Governor, who seemingly dismissed claims of religious persecution. Adams argued that the ongoing violence in communities like Benue and Plateau states could be classified as targeted aggression or even genocide.
